Royal University Hospital's Division of Pediatric Cardiology is the province's only treatment, teaching, research, and health promotion area dedicated exclusively to the health of children and youth with congenital heart disease and acquired heart disease. Our department serves children from birth to 18 years of age, from communities across all of Saskatchewan. Our physicians and staff provide services for more than 2,000 patients per year, including regular clinics at the Regina General Hospital.
The Division of Pediatric Cardiology also offers in-utero diagnosis of congenital heart disease via fetal echocardiography through to adulthood. Our multi-disciplinary team, comprised of experts in Cardiology, Nursing, and various Allied Health fields, works together to provide excellent care to children using a family-centered focus. Each year we perform about 90 procedures in the Royal University Hospital's cardiac catheterization lab for children and some adults with congenital heart defects.
Our team works collaboratively with other teams and programs within the hospital to provide cardiac care to children and adolescents including:
- a 29 bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit;
- a 9 Pediatric Intensive Care Unit; and
- two Pediatric Inpatient Units.
- a 29 bed ward for ages 0-3.
- a 22 bed ward for ages 4-18.
